Kuniyamuthur Check Dam & Canal
The 12.5-kilometer Kuniyamuthur Canal distributes water from the upper reaches of the Noyyal River to the Perur Lake, Sottaiyandi Kuttai, Ganganarayana Samudram, Sengulam and Kuniyamuthur Lakes. KKPA volunteers cleaned and de-silted this canal manually and with the help of machineries during 2017. A check dam in this canal was also cleaned, de-silted and the soil removed was deposited to strengthen the existing 350 feet long bund. These ameliorative measures ensured that the above 4 lakes received copious water and these 4 lakes have filled to capacity from 2018 to 2021.
