Biodiversity Conservation

Biodiversity plays a fundamental role in maintaining ecosystem stability, resilience, and productivity, providing a multitude of ecosystem services vital for human survival, such as clean air and water, food production, and climate regulation. Biodiversity conservation represents a critical effort to safeguard the intricate web of life on our planet and aim to prevent the extinction of species, protect and restore ecosystems, and ensure the continued existence of genetic diversity. It is a vital endeavor to maintain the health and balance of our planet’s ecosystems for current and future generations.

KKPA, through a multifaceted approach that combines awareness campaigns, conservation initiatives, and community engagement strives to conserve the biodiversity. We, work diligently to mitigate threats such as habitat loss of various species and deforestation, while also championing sustainable practices that harmonize human activities with the environment.

Vellalore Butterfly Park

With its commitment to environmental conservation and biodiversity, KKPA has taken a significant step by establishing a Butterfly Park in the vicinity of Vellalore Lake, adjacent to the Miyawaki forest that KKPA proudly established in 2017. This park serves as a thriving ecosystem carefully designed to cater to the diverse needs of various wildlife species, particularly butterflies, bees, wasps, and other insects. A key feature of the Butterfly Park is the inclusion of more than 40 varieties of flowering plants, strategically chosen to provide essential nectar and sustenance for these pollinators.

As envisaged the area has butterflies, different bugs, beetles, insects, birds, reptiles, rodents, amphibians, which seek refuge under the green cover. The Nature and Butterfly Society in Coimbatore has also documented the presence of more than 77 butterfly species in this rejuvenated natural habitat. KKPA’s tireless efforts in establishing the Butterfly Park and restoring the surrounding environment have not only revived biodiversity but also stand as a testament to the positive impact of dedicated conservation work on local ecosystems.

Ongoing efforts are focused on transforming this Butterfly Park into a vibrant public gathering spot and a center for disseminating valuable information and knowledge about butterflies and their delicate ecosystems. The vision is to create a space where people from all walks of life can come together to appreciate the beauty of butterflies and gain a deeper understanding of the intricate relationships between these insects and their natural habitats.
